PPG, PPG Foundation commit $5 million for sustainability education
PPG and the PPG Foundation have announced a commitment to invest up to $5 million by 2030 in support of environmental sustainability education.
The funding will support educational programming that meets specific environmental needs—aligned with climate action and a more circular economy—in markets where the paint and coatings company operates, including topics such as clean energy, climate change, energy efficiency, and reforestation, as well as educational and volunteer efforts related to recycling, reuse, and litter reduction. Projects supported under the commitment include a partnership between PPG Foundation and the National Environmental Education Foundation to develop programs in Pittsburgh and East Point, Georgia, that engage middle school students in hands-on environmental investigations; a partnership between PPG and the National Energy Education Development to deliver teacher workshops in Pittsburgh and Cleveland to build content knowledge and capabilities for teaching energy topics; and building on an existing long-term program with Junior Achievement in Brazil, which engages PPG volunteers and educators to teach environmental sustainability to high school students.
“Sustainability is an integral part of delivering on our promise to protect and beautify the world,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate social responsibility. “Through this investment, we aim to educate young people around the world about climate issues [and] environmental stewardship and prepare them for future STEM careers.”
