Reynolds Foundation Awards $7.2 Million to Museum Coalition

The Donald W. Reynolds Foundation in Las Vegas has awarded a five-year, $7.2 million grant to the Oklahoma Museum Network, which tours museum exhibits throughout the state, the Tulsa World reports.

The network of five museums — the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium, the Omniplex Science Museum in Oklahoma City, the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole, Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse in Enid, and the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton — will present its first hands-on science and discovery-learning exhibits within a year. In the first year, five exhibits will be developed to tour among the partner museums.

"Too many children in Oklahoma, especially the most rural areas, never have the opportunity to engage in the exciting experiential learning that comes form visiting first-rate discovery museums," said Fred W. Smith, chairman of the Reynolds Foundation. "This network of science and discovery museums will allow children in the most remote parts of the state to share in the hands-on learning and the sheer fun that comes from experiencing wonderful museum exhibits."
