Rhode Island Foundation awards $5.4 million in COVID-19 relief

The Rhode Island Foundation has announced grants totaling $5.4 million in federal CARES Act funding for COVID-19 relief to more than a hundred and sixty nonprofits across the state.

Grants averaging more than $32,000 will support organizations working in the areas of housing, behavioral health services, health care, job training, food insecurity, and child care. Recipients include Operation Stand Down, Housing Hotline, the Domestic Resource Center of South County, Esperanza-Hope, Roots2Empower, and Smithfield Senior Services.

“We are getting these grants to the nonprofits that are doing the boots-on-the-ground work that Rhode Islanders have been depending on since the pandemic began,” said Rhode Island Foundation president and CEO Neil D. Steinberg. “This funding will keep these essential partners going as they continue to respond to the needs of their communities.”
