Rice Family Foundation receives $10 million gift in stocks
The Rice Family Foundation in Hanover, Pennsylvania, has announced a gift of Utz shares worth $10 million from the Rice and Lissette families.
The gift of shares from the third and fourth generations of the company's founding family follows a similar gift of stock valued at $10 million in September 2020. The gifts will enable the foundation to increase its annual grantmaking to local organizations working to improve education, health, and general well-being for residents of Hanover and central Pennsylvania by a factor of five.
"We can think of no better way to celebrate Utz's hundredth year in the snack business than by giving back to the community that has been a partner in Utz's success for the last century," said Mike and Jane Rice, who founded the Rice Family Foundation in 2017. "Through this contribution, the foundation will be able to greatly increase its support to organizations in the Hanover and broader central Pennsylvania area, allowing us to continue our work of aiding community organizations but with a much greater annual impact."
