Riddle Hospital Receives $16 Million for Patient Care
Riddle Hospital in Media, Pennsylvania, has announced a $16 million endowment gift from the family trust of John Bancker Gribbel, who died in 1947.
The largest gift ever to the hospital will support high-quality patient-centered care as its parent company, Main Line Health, prepares to implement a new strategic plan for 2016-20, with a focus on enhancing the health and wellness of the community. Gribbel and his family were patients of Dr. Charles H. Schoff, who founded the facility, then known as Media Hospital, in 1909. The hospital was renamed in 1963 in recognition of a bequest from Samuel D. Riddle, another patient of Schoff's, for construction of a bigger and better hospital for Media and neighboring communities.
"This historic gift will help Riddle and Main Line Health to shape the future of health care in our region, and will help to carry out the benevolent vision of Dr. Schoff, Mr. Riddle, and Mr. Gribbel for many years to come," said Main Line Health president and CEO Jack Lynch. "It is extremely gratifying to know that the superior care we provide to our patients and their families garners the support of so many munificent donors in our communities."
