The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) has announced a $1 million gift from Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and founder of the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, in support of programs to encourage unity and strengthen partnerships between Black and Jewish organizations, students, and leadership to combat hate.
The funds will bolster UNCF-led efforts to bring together Black and Jewish community leaders as well as officials from historically Black colleges and universities to promote dialogue and accountability, creating a path forward to strengthen the historical partnership between Black and Jewish communities. The initiative will include “safe space” unity dinners for Black and Jewish students to learn from one another about their shared struggle for social justice in America, encouraging students to become allies in their commitment to serve as social change agents.
“This donation will enable us to develop innovative programs and resources that will empower our students to be agents of change in their communities,” said UNCF president Michael L. Lomax. “Together, we can work toward a future where mutual respect, understanding, and love eliminate all hate.”
“I am honored to support UNCF in their mission to combat hate and promote unity,” said Kraft. “It is crucial that we come together as a society to address the root causes of hate and prejudice. By investing in education and awareness programs, we can empower individuals to stand up against hate and create a more inclusive future for all.”
