Salesforce awards $20 million for tech, AI education

San Francisco-based Salesforce has announced grants to school districts and nonprofit organizations totaling more than $20 million in support of education and workforce development in the tech and AI fields.

Grants include $14 million to school districts in San Francisco, Oakland, New York City, Chicago, and Indianapolis to boost student opportunities to take advanced courses, gain in-demand skills, and explore potential new careers. In addition, $6.8 million was awarded to education and workforce development nonprofits in the United States, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to help students succeed in the changing job landscape and ensure equitable access to tech and AI careers. Grants were awarded to CodePath (U.S.) to help reprogram the higher education system to create the most diverse generation of engineers, chief technology officers, and founders; Sports dans la Ville (France) to connect underserved youth to meaningful careers through sports, social-emotional skills, digital skills, and career connections; and the Careers & Enterprise Company (UK), which aims to provide career education in collaboration with primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, and employers.

“Companies and schools alike are racing to understand what AI means for young people—whether it be how it’s impacting homework assignments today to how to train students for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Salesforce executive vice president and chief impact officer Suzanne DiBianca. “This funding will help educators and workforce development organizations prepare the next generations for success now and into the future.”
