Second cohort of Arts & Culture Leaders of Color fellows announced

Americans for the Arts, in partnership with the Joyce and American Express foundations, has announced a second cohort for its Arts and Culture Leaders of Color Fellowship program.

Established in 2019, the fellowship is a year-long professional development program for mid-career arts administrators of color in the Great Lakes region and includes monthly virtual meetings with senior leaders of color, leadership skills training, networking opportunities, management development sessions, and mentoring. Each fellow is expected to complete a project based on the themes and challenges that emerge during the year.

This year's cohort of sixteen fellows includes Enrique Morales, co-founder of the Northwest Arts Connection in Chicago and an advocate for labor rights reform for creative professionals; Katelyn Rivas, founder of the Detroit chapter of the Free Black Women's Library, whose writing focuses on biculturalism, Black girlhood, biracial identity, and transracial adoption; Marcela "Xela" Garcia, Xicana artist, executive director of Walker's Point Center for the Arts, and founding member of the Milwaukee art collective Raices Revolucionarias; and Adrienne Doyle, an institutional giving manager of Juxtaposition Arts and a teaching artist who is committed to creating opportunities for queer and trans Black Minneapolis artists.

"Arts & Culture Leaders of Color Fellowship introduces second cohort." Americans for the Arts press release 08/20/2020.
