Southlake Family YMCA Receives $16 Million Gift for Expansion
The Southlake Family YMCA in Crown Point, Indiana, has received a $16 million gift from the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation, NWI.com reports.
The gift is part of a deal between the White Foundation and Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point hospital to secure funds for an expansion of the Y, which currently serves eighty-three hundred members, on land provided by the hospital. Though still in its planning stages, the expanded facility is expected to include medical offices for the hospital as well as educational facilities, an indoor natatorium, outdoor pool facilities, an indoor running track, a climbing wall and larger fitness room, classrooms, and a lounge.
"The Y is a treasured asset in our community," said St. Anthony hospital president David Ruskowski. "We are very pleased that Franciscan St. Anthony Health will be a partner with the Y in this visionary expansion. We are most grateful to the Dean and Barbara White Foundation for their support. Together we will lead the way to a healthier and more vibrant community."
