St. David's Foundation awards $22 million to local organizations

The St. David's Foundation in Austin, Texas, has announced grants totaling more than $22 million to local organizations working to support communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Spring grants awarded by the foundation will help strengthen the safety net for vulnerable populations across the five-county region served by the foundation and ensure the stabilization of nonprofits' day-to-day operations. 

Recipients include Any Baby Can of Austin, which was awarded $578,766 in support of multiple initiatives, including the Children's Hearing Aid Texas (CHAT) program and the No Estás Solo program; Austin Recovery, which will receive $850,000 to provide detox and residential treatment services to clients with substance use disorders; and the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition, which was awarded $268,176 in support of a Pay for Success pilot and hires at two local nonprofits.

Other grants include $1.3 million to the SAFE Alliance in support of its Strengthening the Resiliency & Well-Being of Abuse Survivors program; $567,804 to the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center in support of multiple initiatives, including transitional housing for victims of family violence as well as shelter, advocacy, administrative, and education services; $195,250 to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) in support of preventive and restorative dental care for low-income working musicians in Austin; and $145,000 to Spirit Reins for a trauma-informed mental health services program.
