St. George’s School receives $15 million from board chair

St. George’s School, a college prep school in Middleton, Rhode Island, has announced a $15 million gift from board chair and alumnus Dana Schmaltz (’85) and his wife, Kate Enroth, who are also parents to two recent graduates.

The largest single gift to St. George’s since its founding in 1896 as an Episcopal boarding school will support its 125th anniversary capital campaign to fund efforts to increase the school’s financial aid budget; bolster the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion programs; build a new wellness center; fund a comprehensive renovation of the Arden/Diman/Eccles dormitory complex; and construct two faculty residential buildings. Schmaltz has served on the St. George’s board of trustees since 2011, was appointed treasurer in 2013, and began his tenure as board chair on July 1, 2021.

“My family supports education in many ways, and with this gift we believe we can help build on the incredible things happening at the school right now,” said Schmaltz, a founding partner of the private-equity firm Yellow Wood Partners. “I have seen what a St. George’s education has done for my family, and I’m confident this commitment, along with others, will help take the school to the next level and provide future students even more opportunities to develop their skills and talents and contribute to the world around them
