St. Michael’s Home receives $15 million grant to expand elder care

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has announced a $15 million grant to St. Michael’s Home, a residential eldercare community in Yonkers, New York, in support of developing an expanded facility in Uniondale, New York.

The funding will enable the home, rooted in the Greek Orthodox community, to renovate an 11-acre campus to accommodate 160 residents, more than double the home’s current capacity. Facilities will include common spaces, physical and occupational therapy rooms, a gym, a library, a computer room, and park-like grounds, alongside multiple levels of care, including independent and assisted living, giving residents the ability to age in place. In recognition of the support, the campus will be named after the foundation.

“At every stage of life, community is key to our well-being, and St. Michael’s Home has prioritized creating a community built on dignity, care, and respect,” said Stavros Niarchos Foundation co-president Andreas Dracopoulos. “SNF is proud to be a part of the organization’s worthy, long-term effort to serve older adults.”
