TCU and UNTHSC medical school receives anonymous gift
TCU and University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in Fort Worth has announced a gift from a couple who wishes to remain anonymous in support of the school's second class of students.
The gift from the couple, who have made anonymous gifts to the school in the past, will fund tuition for the 2021-22 academic year for the entire class of sixty students. The school's inaugural class of students, which entered in July 2019, received a gift from Paul Dorman estimated at the time to be at least $3 million to help cover the costs of their first year.
According to the school, the average medical school student graduates with more than $250,000 in debt, which can limit their options with respect to a specialty during their residency.
"This generous gift will change the lives of these students," said Texas Christian University chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. "Medical school is challenging enough. This gift will alleviate some of the burden of debt as our students focus on learning and leading in providing capable and compassionate patient care. I am so grateful for this extraordinary gift to these future physicians."
