Teach for America Receives $4 Million From Anschutz Foundation

Teach for America has announced a four-year, $4 million grant from the Anschutz Foundation to expand educational opportunity in Colorado.

The grant will enable TFA-Colorado to continue recruiting, training, and supporting college graduates and professionals who commit to teach for two years in underserved public schools. It is the lead grant in the organization's $20 million Growth Investors fundraising campaign — the first step toward ultimately creating a network of over 2,000 committed individuals working to close the achievement gap in Denver, Greeley, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, San Luis Valley, and the Four Corners classrooms. The funds raised through the campaign also will help TFA-Colorado to grow its corps size to 800 and its alumni network to 1,500 by the 2014-15 school year.

"Teach for America corps members and alumni are driven by a passionate belief in every child's potential to achieve," said Sean VanBerschot, executive director of Teach for America in Colorado. "This generous gift from the Anschutz Foundation will enable more of these dedicated leaders to have a lasting impact on Colorado students, schools, and communities."
