Texas Children’s commits $1.5 million for Houston park renovation
Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) has announced a $1.5 million commitment to the Houston Parks Board (HPB) in support of renovations to MacGregor Park.
The gift will help fund construction of a children’s play area—to be named after the hospital—as part of a five-year redevelopment plan that includes several infrastructure enhancements, capital projects, and much-needed park maintenance. The commitment was made in honor of TCH board members Ann Lents and Tom Bacon, both of whom have served on the HPB board—Lents currently, and Bacon as a former chairman and now as chairman emeritus.
“With a visionary master plan and generous support from TCH, the transformation of the beloved MacGregor Park will enhance and preserve this vibrant greenspace to ensure it continues to be a hub for community connection,” said HPB president Beth White. “This project reflects our commitment to park equity and improving the quality of life for Houstonians.”
