Texas Community Foundations Create Fund for Texas Military Personnel, Families
Three Texas foundations have partnered to create the Texas Resources for Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Fund (TRIAD), the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The Dallas Foundation, the Permian Basin Area Foundation, and the San Antonio Area Foundation were each awarded $5 million by the California Community Foundation to establish TRIAD, which will distribute grants over the next two years to nonprofits providing services to former and active military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. Agencies can use the funds for whatever the families might need, including help with groceries, bills, day care, and counseling.
"We are honored to collaborate with these outstanding community foundations to address a very real need in Texas," said Dallas Foundation executive director Mary Jalonick. "Supporting our troops and their families is an extremely worthy cause and we are proud to play a part."
