The Trade Desk founder Jeff T. Green joins Giving Pledge
Jeff T. Green, co-founder and CEO of digital advertising platform The Trade Desk, has joined the Giving Pledge, bringing to two hundred and twenty-five the total number of individuals and couples pledging to give the majority of their wealth in support of philanthropic causes.
“I will give away the vast majority of my wealth through data-driven philanthropy before or at my death,” Green wrote in his pledge letter. “My target is more than 90 percent of my wealth. But I will also give of my time, my most precious commodity, to allocate those funds deliberately, and to be personally engaged.”
“Through the success of The Trade Desk, we are very fortunate to have helped create thousands of millionaires, and I hope to create many, many more,” wrote Green, whose net worth is estimated by Forbes to be $6 billion, making him the richest person from Utah and the 253rd richest person in America. “As part of this pledge, I call on them to find their own way to give back. It’s not their obligation. However, to have surplus in the hands of a talented, compassionate person presents a huge opportunity to give back and make the world a better place for others. No one got here alone.”
Others who signed on to the Giving Pledge earlier this year include Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, co-founders of Australia-based social media graphic design firm Canva; Anil Agarwal, executive chair of London-based Vedanta Resources and founder of the Vedanta Foundation; and Miseon Hyeong and Beom-su Kim, founder and chair of Kakao and founder of Coupang.
