Lan Su Chinese Garden in Portland, Oregon, has announced that it and the Oregon Symphony and Mercy Corps Northwest have received bequests totaling $1 million from the estate of Micki Naito, a local philanthropist who passed away in July 2021.

In honor of her mother’s passion for the three organizations, Naito’s daughter, Anne Naito-Campbell augmented the bequest to total $1 million. Each of the Oregon-based organizations will use their gift to expand community development efforts.

To that end, a large portion of Naito’s bequest to the Lan Su Chinese Garden will be designated for an endowment. Gifts to the Oregon Symphony will sponsor the principle guest conductor, Jun Märkl, as well as the May 20-22 concerts, and the gift to Mercy Corps Northwest will support entrepreneurs and small business owners in Oregon.
