The Toyota USA Foundation has announced grants of up to $6.7 million to the Huntsville City Schools in support of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in Alabama’s largest city.

The five-year program—with $2.9 million to be distributed in the first year—will expand STEM education opportunities for children in all age groups and increase interest in and awareness of career paths in STEM-related fields, particularly in the communities where Toyota’s workforce lives and works. In July, the foundation made similar grants of up to $5.7 million to schools in Kentucky.

The grants are part of Toyota’s Driving Possibilities initiative, a $110 million nationwide career readiness and community engagement program launched in 2022 to close educational gaps for students through innovative, hands-on STEM programming and prepare youth for technology-driven careers.

“The Driving Possibilities framework provides a holistic approach to addressing gaps in education,” said Toyota Alabama president Jason Puckett. “Our mission is to collaborate with local schools, community partners, and other businesses, to help students reach their full potential. The success of our students will determine the future of our community.”
