UC Berkeley Receives $16 Million Gift From Alumnus
The University of California at Berkeley has announced a $16 million gift from alumnus Charles T. Travers to support its political science and football programs.
A large portion of the gift, $12 million, will be used to create an endowment for the university's political science department that will help fund undergraduate scholarships, create graduate student fellowships, and support the recruitment and retention of faculty. The remaining $4 million will support the school's Division I football program.
"In my heart and soul, I love this university," said Travers, "and I wanted to do something to help it over the long term."
