UJA-Federation of New York commits $3.9 million in Ukraine aid
UJA-Federation of New York (UJA) has announced that it will allocate more than $3.9 million to aid organizations providing aid to Ukrainian refugees of the war with Russia as well as those remaining in Ukraine.
The latest allocations, which boost UJA’s emergency funding since the war started to more than $20 million, will assist existing UJA partners to plan for aid services over the next 12 months. This phase of crisis response requires more sustained support, including refugee assistance in New York, Israel, and countries bordering Ukraine, as well as critical humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable remaining in Ukraine.
“The news about Ukraine remains dire. Refugees in New York are waiting six to nine months for work permits and have no other source of income,” said UJA-Federation of New York CEO Eric S. Goldstein. “In Ukraine, the most vulnerable are facing a very difficult winter where supplies are expected to be scarce and help urgently needed. These new funds will enable our partners to plan longer term, as UJA remains committed to supporting the Ukrainian people during this heartbreaking humanitarian crisis.”
