United States Artists, a national arts funding organization based in Chicago, has announced the recipients of its 2021 USA Fellows program.

Sixty artists active in disciplines such as architecture and design, craft, dance, film, media, music, theater and performance, traditional arts, visual art, and writing will receive unrestricted awards of $50,000 in support of their artistic and professional development. This year's cohort, the largest in the organization's history, includes Walter Hood (architecture and design), Salvador Jiménez-Flores (craft), JanpiStar (dance), Naima Ramos-Chapman (film), Lauren Lee McCarthy (media), Tomeka Reid (music), Carmelita Tropicana (theater and performance), and Basil Kincaid (traditional arts).

"We are grateful for every artist whose artmaking, music, writing, and more is helping us to navigate and cope through this harrowing time in our country," said United States Artists president and CEO Deana Haggag. "The 2021 USA Fellows are a testament to the power of art in shaping the world around us and navigating its complexities. Artists do so much for our communities, and we are grateful to be able to support these sixty incredible practitioners and welcome them into the United States Artists fellowship."
