University of Iowa Receives $5 Million for Stadium Renovation Project

The University of Iowa Foundation has announced a $5 million gift from Ted and Deb Pacha in support of a campaign to raise $25 million to renovate the north end of Kinnick Stadium.

The Pachas' leadership gift will support an $89 million project to add improved concessions, restrooms, a view of the field from the concourse, sixteen hundred premium seats, and a club room to the facility's north end. In recognition of the couple's long history of supporting Hawkeye athletics and their latest gift, the Ted Pacha Family Club will be named in their honor.

Ted Pacha's first job was selling soda at University of Iowa football games as a ten-year-old. After training as a medic and serving in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974, Pacha started Hawkeye Medical Supply, which became one of the region's largest healthcare distribution companies; he is currently president of consulting firm Theo Resources. A charter member of the I-Club's Kinnick Society, Pacha made his first annual gift to Hawkeye athletics in 1974 and has continued to give on an annual basis for more than forty years. The projects the couple has supported over the years include the P. Sue Beckwith, M.D., Boathouse; the Roy G. Karro Athletics Hall of Fame and Museum; and previous renovations to Kinnick Stadium and Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

"Over the years, my family and I have followed Hawkeyes sports, and that's led to many great relationships with Hawkeye athletics teams and provided our family with opportunities to form many wonderful friendships with Iowa student-athletes, coaches, and administrators," said Pacha. "We have a great passion for the mission of Iowa athletics and are extremely proud to take a leadership role in the Kinnick Edge Campaign."
