University of Montana Receives $24 Million Gift
The Missoula-based University of Montana Foundation has announced a $24 million gift from Bill Franke and his family in support of the university's college of conservation and a program designed to expand the global perspective of its students.
The largest single gift ever received by the university will support its College of Forestry and Conservation and Global Leadership Initiative. Pending approval from the UM board of regents, the university plans to rename both the college and initiative in recognition of the contributions of the Franke family.
Longtime supporters of higher education, the family previously made significant gifts to Stanford University and Northern Arizona University. Over the past six years, the Frankes have met with UM professors, students, administrators, and alumni and have developed a strong connection to the university.
