University of South Carolina Business School Gets $45 Million Gift
The University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business has received a $45 million matching gift from alumna and financier Darla Moore.
The university plans to match the gift through an additional $30 million in private support and $15 million in public funds. The funds will support a renovation of the school's facilities and support scholarships and endowed professorships.
"We are extremely grateful to Darla Moore for her continued generosity to the Moore School of Business," said USC president Andrew A. Sorensen. "Her gift is a validation of the strength and of the potential of the Moore School. Her generosity does not mean we can take it easy now. In fact, we must work even more diligently to meet her challenge and expectations, which we share, to improve the lives of South Carolinians."
In 1998, Moore gave $25 million to USC's College of Business Administration. USC officials named the school in her honor, making it the nation's first major business school to be named for a woman.
