University of Texas Tyler receives $10 million from Rogers Foundation

The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) has announced a $10 million gift from the Robert M. Rogers Foundation to its School of Medicine to support mental and behavioral health education.

The gift includes funding to establish a scholarship and mental health curriculum and to support faculty positions in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy. In recognition of the gift, UT Tyler will name its department of psychiatry the Robert M. Rogers Department of Psychiatry.

“This gift is transformational for the school of medicine,” said Brigham Willis, founding dean of the school of medicine. “One of our key endeavors is to improve behavioral health throughout the East Texas region. This gift allows us to have the educational, research and clinical resources throughout the region, and we can’t thank the Rogers Foundation enough.”
