Walmart Foundation awards $7 million to Crystal Bridges Museum
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, has announced a $7 million grant from the Walmart Foundation in support of the museum’s endowment, as well as operations at the Momentary, the museum’s platform for art, food, and music.
Walmart was an initial investor in the museum’s endowment in 2011, which enables the museum to allow free admission for all visitors. Since then, Crystal Bridges and the Momentary have welcomed more than 10.8 million guests free of charge. The foundation’s latest grant also will support continued programming at the Momentary, the museum’s institution in downtown Bentonville that explores visual, performing, and culinary arts.
“We are excited to help Crystal Bridges and the Momentary continue to provide free admission to all visitors,” said Walmart Foundation president Kathleen McLaughlin, who also serves as Walmart’s executive vice president and chief sustainability officer. “We are so fortunate to have such world-leading, welcoming spaces right here in our northwest Arkansas home region—spaces that invite community members to connect with art, culture, and each other. It is a privilege to support the continued growth of Crystal Bridges and the Momentary so that more people can come together to enjoy the beautiful architecture and nature these places have to offer.”
