West Point Receives $15 Million Pledge for Athletic Facility

The Association of Graduates of the U.S. Military Academy has announced a $15 million pledge from William and Carol Foley — the largest single donation in service academy history — to fund the design and construction of an indoor athletic training facility for West Point's twenty-five intercollegiate athletic teams.

The facility represents the second phase of the academy's Margin of Excellence facility upgrade project, and will provide cadet-athletes with a top-notch practice center that will be particularly useful during the inclement winter months.

Foley, a 1967 graduate of the academy, was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and reached the rank of captain. He currently serves as chairman and CEO of Fidelity National Financial, which provides products and outsourced solutions to the real estate industry.

"Bill and Carol Foley have stepped forward to do something only a few could do," said Superintendent Lt. Gen. William J. Lennox, Jr. "Generations of cadets will benefit from this tremendous facility."
