Wharton School receives $10 million for neuroscience initiative

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has announced a $10 million gift from an anonymous donor in support of the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative (WiN).

The gift will provide immediate and ongoing financial support for the initiative's programmatic activities, including collaborative research focused on complex challenges at the nexus of neuroscience and business; summer research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students; curriculum development; and increased infrastructure support. The initiative, which is aimed at reframing how companies approach challenges such as talent development, brand strategy and customer experience, team dynamics, negotiation and communication, and business decision making, includes students, faculty, and resources from the Perelman School of Medicine, the Annenberg School for Communication, Penn Engineering, and Penn Arts & Sciences.

"WiN isn't narrowly about brain science. It's all about making connections — across industries and disciplines and throughout Wharton and Penn," said Wharton School dean Geoff Garrett. "Exploring links among tech, analytics, business, and how we think, work, and make decisions couldn't be more important in today's global climate. This incredible gift acknowledges the significance of the research and outcomes produced by WiN and will turbocharge its discoveries even further."
