York College of Pennsylvania Receives $2.5 Million Gift
York College of Pennsylvania has announced a $2.5 million gift from Tim Grumbacher and his wife, Nancy, on behalf of the M.S. Grumbacher Foundation, the Bon-Ton Stores Foundation, and the Grumbacher Family Foundation, to support the construction of a new sports facility, classrooms, and a college theater.
In recognition of the largest single gift in the college's history, the center will be called the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center. A reflection of the school's holistic approach to education, the center will house the school's varsity and intramural sports teams, fitness training, and student recreation center. The gift will also support the construction of more academic instruction space and a college theater to accommodate student plays, lectures by distinguished speakers, and theater productions.
"We are happy to support York College in its current capital campaign. It is a great institution that is vital to the future of our community," said Tim Grumbacher, executive chairman of Bon-Ton Stores. "This gift is a tribute to my parents and grandparents who founded and developed the Bon-Ton Stores and taught us the importance of giving back to the community; it also recognizes all of those who have been associated with the Bon-Ton Stores and helped to make the company a success over its hundred-and-seven-year history."
