Admitting Failure
Mission:
To establish new levels of transparency, collaboration, and innovation within the international development sector.
Background:
Launched in January by Engineers Without Borders Canada, the Admitting Failure Web site invites international development professionals to share their mistakes so as to help others avoid making the same errors. In conjunction with the site's launch, Engineers Without Borders Canada released its annual 2011 Failure Report, which includes nine failure-related stories contributed by EWB staff.
Outstanding Web Features:
The Admitting Failure site offers information about why it's important to acknowledge mistakes in development work. Indeed, according to the site, the only "bad" failure is one that is repeated. Visitors to the site can also browse and comment on failures contributed by others; share their own story of failure; and/or subscribe to the site's RSS feed or receive updates through the Admitting Failure Twitter feed.
