Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee Flood Response

Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee Flood Response

Mission:
To track the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's ongoing philanthropic response to the 2010 floods that affected communities in the Middle Tennessee region.

Background:
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee created the Flood Response Web site after the 2010 floods to share how much it raised in flood-relief donations, where the donations went, and the decision-making process behind those choices. To date, CFMT has awarded more than $10.2 million of the $14 million it collected in flood relief through its two disaster response funds — the Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund and the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund — to more than a hundred organizations.

Outstanding Web Features:
Where Is the Money Going? features a detailed lists of grants given to date by the funds, including recipient names, need served, and counties served. Visitors to the site can find additional details about the foundation's flood-response strategy and grantmaking process on the Response Overview and read stories about how donations have been used to help flood victims recover from the disaster. The site also features stories written by area residents, a photo slideshow, a list of resources for individuals or families still in need, and a grant application form for nonprofits.
