Gates Notes

Gates Notes

Mission:
To share information about what former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates is learning and doing in his full-time role at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Background:
Since leaving Microsoft in late 2008, Gates Foundation co-chair Bill Gates has traveled around the globe and explored issues he funds and is passionate about in a more in-depth fashion than he was able to do in the past. Gates launched the Gates Notes Web site earlier this year to document his experiences as a full-time philanthropist and to respond to people who are curious about what he has been learning and doing since leaving Microsoft.

Outstanding Web Features:
The Gates Notes site offers information about where Gates has traveled, what he has learned, and issues he's thinking about, which lately have included energy innovation, his college tour, and the mood at the World Economic Forum. The site also features Gates' answers to questions from students around the world, discussions he has had with contemporary problem solvers, and a number of "infrequently asked questions", including "Is there progress towards an AIDS vaccine?" and "Are governments providing enough foreign aid?" Visitors to the site can filter the information there by topic, region, type of media, and popularity and/or choose to follow Gates on Twitter.
