Generation Cures
Mission:
To raise funds to help develop cures and treatments for pediatric illnesses while engaging children in learning about philanthropy, science, and medicine.
Background:
Created by Children's Hospital Boston, Generation Cures is a Web portal for tweens (children between the ages of 8 and 12) and their parents that educates children about the concept of giving, inspires them to make a difference in the world, teaches them about science and medicine, and strengthens their skills in logic, reason, critical thinking, and creativity. All Generation Cures content is free to registered users, and donations to the site support Children's Hospital Boston's pediatric disease research efforts.
Outstanding Web Features:
Once registered, visitors to the Generation Cures site can play games, watch episodes of the Zebrafish animated show, and view videos in which children interview Children's Hospital doctors and scientists and give tours of labs and operating rooms. Visitors to the site also can follow Generation Cures on Facebook and Twitter and make a donation online.
