Lendmark Financial commits $10 million for pediatric cancer research

Household credit and loan provider Lendmark Financial Services has announced a pledge to raise $10 million total by 2025 in support of Atlanta-based CURE Childhood Cancer, which funds targeted pediatric cancer research.

Since 2016, Lendmark has partnered with the organization and held an annual Climb to Cure campaign that includes fundraising, awareness, and wellness activities from the company’s executives, employees, partners, and customers. Employees also held online coffee, t-shirt, and baseball cap sales; hosted bingo nights and barbecues; and held a golf tournament, along with other fundraisers. In 2021, the company extended the campaign to customers, and many volunteered to participate by donating $1 when closing a loan, and the company matched the gifts. The 2022 campaign, which wrapped in August, raised $1.2 million, boosting total donations to CURE to $4.73 million.

According to CURE, pediatric cancers differ from adult cancers, and the research that increases adult survival rates rarely trickles down to help children. Annually, CURE dedicates more than $4.7 million to specific research projects aimed at curing cancers that affect children and adolescents, and Lendmark has been CURE’s largest donor.

“We are extremely grateful to Lendmark’s ongoing commitment to CURE through their extraordinary giving and fundraising. In just seven years, they’ve raised $4.73 million, ensuring that critical research for children with cancer advances,” said CURE chief executive Kristin Connor. “We truly appreciate each and every employee, partner, and customer who personally gives and champions the effort, as we earmark every dollar raised by Lendmark toward CURE’s precision medicine initiative. Precision medicine offers one of the best available opportunities to save children’s lives and advance the fight against pediatric cancer.”
