Mission:
To advance the preservation and understanding of the world's artistic heritage.

Background:
Developed by the J. Paul Getty Museum and the J. Paul Getty Trust, an international cultural and philanthropic institution devoted to the visual arts, GettyGames uses game strategies to help kids (ages 8-12) explore the wonders of art.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the GettyGames site can reassemble Van Gogh's "Irises" out of jigsaw-puzzle-like pieces, find the changed details in Walker Evans' "Two Elderly Men Conversing," and pair up animals in Breughels' "Entry of the Animals into Noah's Ark." The site also offers the game Switch, which teaches kids the differences among two seemingly identical artworks; and Make Art at Home, which allows visitors to download bookmark and mask templates and design them at home. By clicking "Learn about the Art," students can get more information about the artists and the works they are seeing.
