Remake Learning receives $100 million in commitments

Remake Learning, a public-private partnership in southwest Pennsylvania, has announced more than 50 major commitments totaling nearly $100 million in support of developing equitable learning practices that enable young people to navigate rapid social and technological change.

To date, the organization has received pledges from industry partners such as Argo AI, PNC, and Simcoach Games; philanthropic partners such as the Richard King Mellon, Grable, and Pittsburgh Penguins foundations; and educational leaders such as Carnegie Mellon University, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild; with dozens of diverse institutions joining to help uplift the region’s learners. In addition, the organization recently landed a $63 million Build Back Better grant to expand its robotics and autonomous-technology industries.

The latest pledges include $10 million from the Education Partnership to provide critical school supplies and classroom materials for more than 9,000 educators and 63,000 students; $10 million from Allegheny County Department of Children Initiatives, leveraged by American Rescue Plan Act funds in support of access to childcare for working families and early literacy programming for the county’s youngest learners; and $6.5 million from Trying Together to eliminate barriers to equity in early learning.
