GrantCraft
Mission:
To offer practical wisdom for grantmakers on the tools and techniques of effective grantmaking.
Background:
The Ford Foundation began GrantCraft by gathering the case studies and examples that it used to train new program officers. Since its inception in October 2001, the project has asked hundreds of grantmakers and grantees to contribute their own examples and insights about grantmaking, share successes and disappointments, and draw lessons from their experiences. The GrantCraft team of consultants and writers has organized the information and created a series of guides, videos, case studies, and workshops to help grantmakers improve.
Outstanding Feature:
Visitors to the GrantCraft Web site can download guides, case studies, and articles, and watch videos. New features include Supporting Leadership: A Guide-in-Progress, which offers lessons learned by grantmakers about management issues, recruiting, and more.
To help grantmakers use GrantCraft effectively, the site's examples area documents how organizations are using the materials to improve their practices. And its contact page includes an online form that solicits feedback from users about how GrantCraft can be improved.
