Greater Than AIDS
Mission:To respond to the continuing AIDS crisis in the United States, with a particular focus on the severe and disproportionate impact of HIV on African Americans.
Background:The Greater Than AIDS campaign was developed in support of Act Against AIDS, a multiyear effort by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Preventionto help refocus attention on HIV/AIDS in the U.S. Launched by by the Kaiser Family Foundationin partnership with the Black AIDS Instituteand with funding from the Fordand Elton John AIDSfoundations and the MAC AIDS Fund, Greater Than AIDS works to elevate the public's knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and confront the stigma surrounding the disease through a national media campaign targeted to heavily affected communities.
Outstanding Web Features:
The Greater Than AIDS Web site includes facts about HIV/AIDS; a testing center finder; outreach and advocacy materials and resources, including buttons, stickers, posters, and customizable t-shirts; and a Pride portal to engage and inform gay and bisexual men. In addition, visitors to the site can watch and share videosfeaturing community leaders; upload a personal video, photo, or text message; browse the campaign's newsletter archive; and connect with the campaign on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
