KatrinaCollegeStudents.org

Mission: To meet the educational needs of students displaced by the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

Background:
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board established the KatrinaCollegeStudents.org Web site to be a clearinghouse for colleges and universities that will accept students displaced from schools in the Gulf Coast region. Via links to their Web sites, they provide information about what they can offer.

Outstanding Web Features:
The Web site lists independent and public universities that are accepting students from affected areas for fall semester. The site also includes links to Texas and federal agencies, and major relief organizations. In addition, it provides links to state education agencies for Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma; the Katrina Survivor Locator, which contains almost 23,000 names and allows for names to be added; and a message board.
