Scholar Match

Scholar Match

Mission:
To connect college-bound students with donors who want to support the future leaders of America.

Background:
Scholar Match was launched earlier this year by education and literacy nonprofit 826 National to help match donors with college-bound students in their communities. To that end, the site makes it possible for potential donors to see the profiles of students in need of financial aid and to make a financial commitment to help a student pay his or her tuition costs. Once matched with a specific student, donors are sent monthly updates about that student's progress in school.

Outstanding Web Features:
The Scholar Match Web site features a database of students in need of financial support that is searchable by keyword, city, neighborhood, high school, college applied to, major, extracurricular activity, and interests. The profiles also include a photo of the student and information about his or her career/educational goals. Potential donors can register on the site to support a student; a list of donors is also available. The site also offers information on how to create a student profile and a list of scholarships for which students can apply.
