Pepsi Refresh
Mission:
To enable people, businesses, and nonprofits to generate ideas that will have a positive impact on communities.
Background:
Starting in January, the Pepsi Refresh contest began inviting individuals and organizations to submit ideas for how to improve their communities. Conducted in partnership with GOOD, Global Giving, and DoSomething.org, the contest will give away more than $20 million this year to support each month's most popular ideas, as determined by visitors' votes.
Outstanding Web Features:
The Pepsi Refresh Web site enables visitors to browse ideas by category — health, arts and culture, food and shelter, the planet, neighborhoods, and education; prize amount — $250,000, $50,000, $25,000, and $5,000; and geographic location. The front page of the site displays the leaders and details for the current round, as well as links to social media sites where visitors can promote their favorite ideas. In addition, the site offers information on the ideas that have won so far and a page where visitors can submit their own idea to have it be a part of the contest.
