Pollination Project

Pollination Project

Mission:
To unleash the goodness in every person by making seed grants to individual social change agents every day of the year.

Background:
Launched in 2013, the Pollination Project values "compassion consciousness" — thinking through the impact of our choices and our work, from the food we eat, to the projects we fund, and, ultimately, to the institutions and systems we challenge. Every day, the organization awards a targeted microgrant of $1,000 to "pollinate" a nascent social change project and support creative leadership in areas ranging from animal welfare, community health and wellness, and economic empowerment, to education and youth development, environmental sustainability, and social change-oriented arts and culture. Projects that make a significant impact may be eligible to receive a follow-up grant ranging between $500 and $5,000.

To fund the grants, members of the Daily Giving Community commit to giving a minimum of $1 a day, every day, to a project selected by the Pollination Project's five advisory teams. With programmatic and administrative costs covered by other means, the organization allocates 100 percent of all donations to grants.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can browse grants awarded by date or issue area; learn about grant recipients' projects, how they used their grants, and the recognition they and their projects have since received. Social change agents who are interested in applying for a grant can check out the organization's funding guidelines and an FAQ that includes "Common Reasons We Decline an Application." Visitors also can join the Daily Giving Community or make a one-time donation.
