Publicolor

Publicolor

Mission:

To use color, collaboration, design, and the painting process to engage students in their education, schools, and communities, ultimately preparing them to be productive members of the workforce.

Background:

Founded in 1996, Publicolor teaches students the process of commercial painting and hosts events that put students to work painting public areas in their schools as well as other community spaces. Through these painting events and the organization's tutoring, career exposure, and college guidance programs, Publicolor works to help students become engaged in their learning environments while teaching them marketable job skills.

Outstanding Web Features:

The Flash-enabled Publicolor Web site features a colorful interface and lots of good information about its programs and events, including before and after photos of some of the schools the group has helped transform and photos and interviews with some of its volunteers and participating students. The site also features three interactive games designed to teach users about color and commercial painting.
