Random Acts of Kindness Foundation
Mission:
To inspire people to practice kindness and to "pass it on" to others.
Background:
Established in 1995, the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation serves as a resource for individuals and communities committed to spreading kindness. The organization disseminates ideas and develops materials for educators, students, community members, faith-based groups, service clubs, and others with the goal of helping them tap into the innate generosity of human beings and discover the power of kindness to foster healthy relationships and effect positive change. The organization has no religious affiliations; funded by an anonymous private donor, it accepts no grants or donations but encourages people to make contributions in their own community.
Outstanding Web Features:
All the content on the Random Acts of Kindness Web site is free and downloadable. Highlights include instructions for building a Web site to share kindness-related activities and projects; a range of educational materials, including a teacher's guide and extensive lesson plans for all grade levels; suggested community and workplace projects ranging from Feed the Hungry Day, to valentines for seniors, to a book drive. The Web site also provides specialized information for the classroom and the community, kindness-oriented e-cards, chat rooms, an archive of the organization's newsletter, and information about starting a local RAK club.
