Smart Growth Tools
Mission:
To help communities and planners identify tools and processes that improve community planning and design.
Background:
The Smart Growth Tools database was developed in 2002 by Ken Snyder, with financial support from the Funders' Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities. Now managed by Denver-based PlaceMatters, which was founded by Snyder, the database is funded by both that organization and the Orton Family Foundation in Middlebury, Vermont.
Outstanding Web Features:
The Planning Process Road Map offers a range of tools associated with the different stages of the community design and decision making process. Or, using the toolbox navigator, you can search the database alphabetically by tool name, keyword, category, or tool type. After registering for free, users may also review, rate, and/or add a tool.
