Background:
Pop artist and cultural icon Andy Warhol was one of the most influential American artists of the twentieth century. The Andy Warhol Museum, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, is a collaborative project of the Carnegie Institute, the Dia Center for the Arts, and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. Opened in 1994, the Warhol Museum features extensive permanent collections of Warhol's art and archives, and is a primary resource for anyone seeking insights into contemporary art and popular culture.

The highlight of the Warhol: Online Factory is Warhol: Silkscreen Printing, an interactive feature that enables users to create their own silkscreened images using the same process used by Warhol. Visitors to the site are taken through a six-step process that starts with the selection of an image, followed by "burning," tracing, underpainting, and, voila!, printing. The finished image can then be sent as an e-card to friends and family.
