Background:
Americans for the Arts launched United We Serve: ARTSusa to leverage the momentum created by the announcement of President Obama's United We Serve initiative, which works to engage Americans in meaningful service with the potential to create change in their communities. Rooted in the idea that the arts can incite positive change in people's lives and communities, the program works to inspire and celebrate community service and engagement through the arts.

Outstanding Web Features:
The central component of the United We Serve: ARTSusa program is a Web portal that allows arts groups and individual artists to share stories and upload photos and videos related to their volunteer experiences. Users also are encouraged to document their service projects on the United We Serve Web site.

The ARTSusa site also offers a searchable database of volunteer opportunities provided by All for Good, an idea kit, featured service stories, and a blog.
