A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty And Transform Economies Through Sustainable Development

While the global community has made great progress toward achieving the 2015 Millennium Development Goals, post-2015 development efforts should focus on eradicating extreme poverty by 2030, a report from the United Nations argues. Based on findings that the 2015 MDGs are falling short in terms of realizing many of the economic, social, and environmental aspects of development, the report, A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies Through Sustainable Development (81 pages, PDF), presents "transformative" recommendations for a post-2015 development agenda: leave no one behind; put sustainability at the core of all development efforts; transform national economies, with a focus on job creation and inclusive growth; build open and accountable institutions for all; and forge new global partnerships infused with the spirit of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual accountability.
