'The Impact and Health of the Nonprofit Arts and Culture Sector 2015'

Arts and culture organizations in Minnesota contribute nearly $1.2 billion annually to the state's economy, including $696 million in direct expenditures and $501 million in spending by audiences and patrons, a report from Creative Minnesota finds. According to the report, The Impact and Health of the Nonprofit Arts and Culture Sector 2015 (32 pages, PDF), the 1,269 organizations included in the report collectively support the equivalent of more than 33,000 full-time jobs, generate annual state and local revenues totaling $127 million, and serve 18.9 million audience members (in a state where the population is less than 5.5 million), including more than 24,000 student group visits. The study also found that about two-thirds of participating organizations had annual budgets under $100,000; that nearly half were involved in the performing arts; and that eight out ten (84.2 percent) audience members at nonprofit arts events in the state were local.
